Who is Nuria Cariad?
Hello, my name is Nuria Cariad, and I am a fictional character invented initially as a pen name for the artivist line of work of N.V.B. . Later on, I was given my own backstory, looks and personality, and now I am as well a character full of campaigns to accompany you, and the stories I have lived, I will be explaining them to you as the time goes.
I have been invented because of a simple reason: Eternity. I am immortal, I am transferable, I am replicable, I do not respond to a specific time or space (T.I.M.NO.T.E in Catalan, my original language), however I do respond to a very basic truth: that we are born free, and we should be able to live free.
I will be developed while I am necessary, either by my maker, who is a real person, or the family, friends or community. When the truth becomes blocked, here I am, in the metaphysical space of the parallel existences. I am your Timnote, another bridge towards your super-you, a megalomaniac device that few would be able to withstand in real life but that, in this condition, makes something obvious: you are free.
The Austrian logic mathematician and philosopher Kurt Gödel from the beginning of the 20th century, arrived to a conclusion with his Incompleteness Theorems in the field of mathematical logic: there are true systems that cannot be demonstrated through its own system and furthermore, that no consistent system can use it-self to demonstrate it-self. Here is where I come from, a fictional character, a false axiom, a walking mechanism built without a closed meaning. Through the fallacy ad hominem, I want to help to make evident some truths that are difficult to find, precisely about THE Hominem: you are FREE. All the rest is fiction. They are films projected by a few (with strong imaginations) through their eristic discourses focused on blocking, winning and subjugating.
I have been invented to be able to make all that parents cannot do, intimidated by the economical blackmail that “if you open your mouth, you will be sacked”. A father or mother without a job cannot provide for their children. It is not coherent to leave children unprotected, nor to leave them the responsibility to confront all alone, the corrupt, the bad historical designs, the climate change… as it is not coherent to leave our fathers, mothers and grandparents all alone against a technification and bureaucracy that alienates them from being able to protect themselves with the dignity they deserve. I am a tool to take responsibility of your time and space, which is here! And now!, safely and legally. From fiction, I will come out to reality, confronting the pressures of greedy people. I am a fictional activist designer, a cultural agent, I will design a future where there are no slaves, pushing within the bounds of the law.
I have been given a family, so that I do not forget about the balance between procreation and creation. I will question from the legal swizz cheese holes in which we live and also the toxic cultural aspects that we can modify with consciousness. The objective is to reach a moderate and sustainable coexistence.
The personality that has been wished for me is the Greek sophrosyne, who Cicero defined as Temperance, Moderation, Modesty and Frugality, because the maker considers is the most sustainable personality. The reality is that I am all the opposite to that, and it will be really hard for me to achieve that balance. I am very likely going to fail, and the maker surely will tell me off a few times. I do what I can, but at least, there is the wish to become a better being… however, my defects and the virtues I have been commanded to develop are not what are important, but that all this mess of human contradictions become useful for something.
I will be connected to nature and people, and this is very real, using the tools that exist in order to materialize a more fair and balanced world. I wish above all, above all, that my work becomes useful.
